The President serves as the chief executive and administrative officer of the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani. He oversees the administration of the institution, including the enforcement of the decisions, actions, policies, and regulations of the Board of Trustees applicable to the university. He promotes the educational excellence, general development, and welfare of the institution; defines the scope of authority of faculties, councils, committees, and officers of the institution; and authorizes and approves all projects, programs, and institutional reports undertaken on behalf of the institution.
Currently the President also acts as Provost, who serves as the chief academic officer of the university. He is responsible for all academic and student life. He coordinates the work of the faculty through division chairs, program and department heads, and faculty committees.
The Chief Administrative and Financial Officer oversees the services provided to staff and faculty, ensures that university operations run smoothly, and is the principal decision maker on financial or budgetary matters.
