Applicants to AUIS must demonstrate English ability either by taking AUIS's English Placement Test or by submitting an official, recent TOEFL, IELTS or Pearson score. Applicants must demonstrate a minimum proficiency in English grammar, reading and writing in order to be admitted into the University.
Once admitted, students may need to do additional English preparation. As help to admitted students, AUIS offers the Academic Preparatory Program, an intensive English preparatory program. APP runs three terms per calendar year; a student may be in APP for up to four terms, but the average AUIS admittee spends a year or less in the program.
Applicants can demonstrate English ability in two ways:
1. AUIS English Placement Test
This test is given at least twice a week, every week, by the AUIS Testing Center. Click here for 2012 schedule.
English Placement Test takes 3 hours and includes grammar, writing, reading and listening parts.
After completing this exam, you will receive, within 48 hours, a Test Report that explains your score and gives an APP Level.
2. TOEFL Score
Applicants may also submit an official TOEFL (or Pearson) score to the AUIS Admissions Office in order to be placed in an English level.
The minimum score for admission is a 37 on the TOEFL.
Direct Entrance into Academic Program
In order to test directly into the undergraduate program, students must have the following scores:
Prospective or APP students seeking direct entrance into the Undergraduate Program may substitute the TOEFL iBT for the Academic Entrance Exam only if the TOEFL iBT meets the following conditions:
- Scores of 79 / 550 or higher, with the following specific scores: Reading 15, Listening 14, Speaking 18, Writing 1
- Test completed within a year of matriculation into Undergraduate Program
Results submitted to AUIS Admissions Office before first day of academic classes.
